Italian Civilization, was always majority Italiano ('Roman Italian Church'), and not, Italian ('Society'), or even, 'Italian people' ('Italian Media').
Regional Italians:
There does exist, a forth kind of Italian, that was highly, identified, with political regions seen, in Italy (e.g. Campania, Tuscany, or even, Umbria). Such Italians, were often referred to as 'Italian Philosophists' [or people really, who appear to talk aimlessly and meaninglessly too, but in fact, make for all meaning].
