The Hero with a Thousand Faces:
This is an ode, a telling really, to the Land, they call, the British Isles;
A Land really, made famous, by colonial exploits,
but really, one, of gentiles, and rightfully called: Britannia
Many Lands, seek, to be famous, for their exploits;
Whether it be, Sinbad, and the Seven High Seas,
or even, drinking binges, at a university weekend party (Oxford);
the truth is, what makes, for a Land, are the religious aspects, of the people in it.
And while, America, be the Land, of Wonders,
[as in Stevie Wonder, singing, Part Time Lover], idea filled, and an amazement,
and Japan, be a Land, of God(s),
[as in the Samurai, and especially, the Ronin], skillfull, and of interest in heart,
the British Isles (Brittania), are a Land, of Heroes.
And no other Hero, fits, the image physically, in aspects, and look, than Hermes;
Greek, artful, and highly, emotionally expressive [and prone, to outbursts]
The British Isles, have been, a Land, misunderstood, and hence, highly problematic.
A Land, seen more, as Country, People, and Nation, than rightfully, what,it really is, a Land.
An attempt, to unite, all three, leading, to political discourse [filled in rage], and violence,
as a denouncing factor, to a Land, misunderstood; for the question reigns still,
who belongs, in Brittania, and the argument being, which Nation, Country, or People,
have the right, to rule [in policy], and rightfully too, fit in [in customs, and tradition].
As a Country, the British Isles, have been, one, of languages;
English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish [the North, if you must]
For the English, Country means, Monarchy;
For the Irish, speaking in Gaelic, Country means, Information Networks [and an IT industry]
For the Scottish, Country means, Country does mean, Heraldry;
and finally, with the Welsh [no jokes or puns], Country, really means, Parliament;
As a Nation, the British Isles, have been one, of culture;
Irishmen, Englishmen, Scots, and Welshmen, have all defined,
each other, differently, as Nations [leading to fights, and wars];
Mary Stewart, William Wallace, Elizabeth, and even, Rob Roy;
For what, makes, for the Irishman, is the food, he eats [no hamburgers please];
for the Welshman, is the clothes, he wears [no jeans],
and for the Scots, is the music, they pleasurably, listen too [bagpipes and horns...and skirts too];
and with the English, it is in, their speech;
Each, vowing, to defend, their cultures [Nations really], from alien factors [whether it be, African, or American],
and wishing death, on others, and themselves, those who seek, to alienate them, from their ways, and Life.
As a People, the British Isles, have been defined, as workers, and riches too, by outsiders, to it;
In todays world, it has been, the Americans, Africans, the Indians, and even, the Egyptians.
Traditionally though, different people, made, the British Isles, as workers, and in wealth;
with the Welsh, it was the Romans [making them, toughened, and bountiful];
with the Scots, as wealth seekers, settlers, from Meso-America [all the way from Venezuela],
once defined, whom they were, in wealth, and as, a working people;
with the English, it was, the (of course), the English and Saxons;
and with the Irish, a land filled, with opportunity, came, the Ancient Spaniards, to trade, and farm;
That was how, the British Isles, grew wealthy, and rich; no IT, retail, import/export, or merchandising;
But it is as a Land, that the British Isles, have remained, undefined, but rightfully, believed,
by many, to be British, by nature [a Land, ugly in prospects, and stupid, in the people];
for the Land, in all, can rightfully be called, Brittania;
not so, for the Brits, who have partially, defined it, but for the Greek, in it [as the first stone, ever lain, in the British Isles, was Greek];
It is the Greek, who unites them all, in the form, and name, of Hermes;
A way of life [lifestyles really], defined, by Hermes, as Hero.
And to oversea, this way, of Life, would be none other, than, the Mother of Greece herself,
Athena [influencing, the customs, and traditions, that unites them all].
And with Athena, with the aid, of a Prince [or two],
will be a way, of Life, best based, on the Prince and the Pauper [Hermes in disguise];
For thats what, every, Irishman, Scotsman, English, and Welshman, really is [in their homes,
and out and about]: a Prince and (or), A Pauper;
and that, in all, truly (really what), does Britannia, make for;
Britannia:
[Vangelis - Eternal Alexander]
