Survival 101

Unknown, to many out there, it is believed, that the world, is doing fine, and even well. That people, are doing, what they are supposed to, while awaiting, something bigger, to happen, to them. They believe, things are grand, especially, due to a false belief, that automation, works. The truth in reality though, is that the, majority, of humanity out there, is struggling, just to survive. What this means, is that the majority, out there, don't know, where their next meal, is coming from, where they will be sleeping, in the next 6 months, or simply, where to get, good, clean, decent clothes. Thats really how, the world out there, really is.

When we speak, of survival, we are really speaking, of mechanisms, that are needed, to make a person, feel, like a normal, human being. If one, has survival issues, at the very least, they become, like animals. The reason, why, many out there, are struggling to survive, is because, of how life, today, has been designed; there are basically, only, two trajectories: that of seeking money [and escaping sabotage], and that, of being placed, in a position, somewhere. Both trajectories, operate, from the concept, of the system, meaning, that, a good number, of people, are shut out. Systems, in general, are supposed, to be targeted, towards those, who don't have, a realistic, trajectory, in life. They basically, just survive, doing something small. The YMCA, is a system. Making money today, is almost, a hazardous occupation [one can get killed, via sabotage], and only a chosen few, get to be placed, in positions, of importance. The rest, of humanity, have to struggle and suffer, just to get, their daily bread. The world, mainly consists of, beggars, in one form, or another.

When we speak, of survival, and being, a normal, human being, we are really, speaking, of meeting, certain needs. These needs, can best, be presented, in three levels:

1. Basic Needs: Food, Shelter, Clothing
2. Security Issues
3. Welfare

These three things, are needed, for one, just to feel, like a, normal human being. The two trajectories, presented above, and the systems, they use, to operate in, do not meet, the needs, above [necessities really], for most people, out there. Housing, is still a problem, for a huge percentage, of the worlds population.

Understanding, how to create, survival mechanisms, that meet, the above necessities, is very much, dependent, on the trajectories, that people, live by. We shall use, two examples, that of America, and India, as an introduction, to this complex, but simple, subject. In America, traditionally, the trajectory in life, has been, the path of hope. The path of hope, is kind of, complicated, because, just about everyone out there, has an, individual life. They are all individuals, doing their own thing. Meeting the necessities, then, becomes, kind of difficult. General housing, is provided for, everyone, but if you want, a good house, you have to build it, yourself. Food, came via, stores mainly. With clothing, they kinda, made their own stuff. When it came, to security issues, which really means, what would happen, if you were unable, to meet, the basic needs, at the very least, Americans, sought to resort to, structures, such as motels [housing], foodbanks [food], and penny stores [clothes]. Security issues, were all about, making one look, dignifiable, as America then, was pretty much, a land, where people, did their own thing. You were supposed, to do for self, at almost, all times. Welfare, is a more, difficult topic, to discuss, but not so. It really means, making things, wonderful. Having access, to a Dentist, is part, of welfare. Having access, to knowledge [e.g. libraries, private education], is also part, of welfare. Having access, to Restaurants, is also part, of welfare. Restaurants, are a North American conception, and not European, as many believe. They are part, of the path of hope, as are dentists. Majority of the world, out there, do not have, the concept, of dentists, in their culture.

In India, the concept of honor, was how, people lived. They strove, to make, just about, anything, memorable. The Indians, had the further concept, of stations. One moved up, in level, with regards, to their jobs. The jobs, people did, were very much, family, and also, governmental. It was very much, like working, for the government, with the government, supplying, or helping to supply, just about anything; from shelter, to family support/donations [security]. The Indian world, is not too easy, to see, but it is. You had, more or less, government housing, food, came via markets, and clothing, via bandars. When it came, to security, and one had no family, more or less, they sought, food security, from the wealthy, housing security, from what they call, hostels, and, clothing, from donors. Welfare, in India, was very much, Government, in nature. The Government, for instance, would send out, a message, stating, that a health checkup, was imminent. And the people, would basically line up, to go, to health centers, and clinics, for a health check up. And it was very much, a huge event, with people, running up, to people they knew, and saying, "When did you arrive?", or, "We are leaving now, we will see you later", and the whole event, was very much, memorable, in just about, every way. The Government, also held, religious, ceremonies, of all sorts, that basically, brought the people together, and created, harmony, amongst, the very many communities, thousands, that made up India.

Creating survival mechanisms, as one can see, is very much based, on the trajectory, one chooses, to live by. However, things, somewhat differ, by the continent, people live in. Going about, meeting basic demands, is very different, continent wise. Its complicated, but not, as one has to realize, there is a basic plan, for each continent, on which, people can choose, just about any trajectory, to live by.

North America: Structures

In North America, meeting, ones necessities, is all about, structures. People, put up, physical structures, like houses, and stores, and the whole idea, is using them, really. To make this clear, American clothing for instance, is different, from Indian clothing. With American clothing, you can't simply buy it, off the streets. You will want, not only to take a look at it, but also probably, try it out. Comparison, with other clothes [matching for instance], happens, when one, is buying American clothing. You need structures, stores, for this. With Indian clothing, you can simply, choose them, from a bandar, knowing, how they look on one, and even, if they are, the right fit. Its complicated like that, but not. American food, is also, very much, about variety, and also, how fresh, it is. You cannot buy, American food, from a market. Ice cream, cannot be sold really, in a market. Indian food, is mainly, about spices, and they also eat food, which is by nature, storable; like rice. Other foods, like Chicken for instance, is more or less, instantly, preparable. Its meat, one can sell, in a market, under certain conditions, as it sells, fast. Beef, goes bad, fast. Its complicated, but not. At the heart, of American, survival structures, is what you call, a Blueprint. In order, to feel, like a human being, in America, one has to have, a blueprint, for their life, that meets, the above necessities.

South America: Large scale industry

Large scale industries, are pretty much known [retail, wholesale, telecomm, foods(canned), and the likes], and were the basis, of survival mechanisms, for South Americans. At the heart, of Large scale industry, is what they call, Plans.

Europe: Institutional modes

Institutional modes, are kind of hard, to explain, clearly. For at their heart, is the concept, of service. You are allowed, to use, certain facilities, with the condition, that you give back, in one way, or another. The idea, for instance, of applying, to a university, via a motivational letter, is very much, European, in nature. In Europe basically, survival, is around, what they call, facilities. At the heart, of survival, in Europe, its all about, having, a Construction Plan. Its not easy to explain, but it is. Apply to a university, and get, housing, cheap food, contacts [security], jobs [welfare]. Thats kinda how, you survive, in Europe.

Africa: Structural modes

Structural modes, are not easy to explain, as they are very much, intelligence based. In Africa, to survive, you have to be able, to basically, help out. This is not, similar, to Europe, which is about, providing a service, or doing, what you are told. In Africa, at any one moment, there is a person, who needs, help, or aid, in one form, or another. You go, to a strange place, and you have to be able, to help out, by providing, an intelligence, in one form, or another. Thats how Africa, worked, traditionally. People don't know this, about Africa, that doing, the most simple of things, requires help, in one form, or another. This is because, things in Africa, are not, very stable. What this means, is that, Africa, suffers, from shortages, and outtages, frequently, as an example. You can go, to a store, you visit often, to buy sugar, and find, its out. Its kind of like that, and life, is complicated, in Africa, because, of such, small problems. If there, is no sugar, in the store, you visit, you might have, to call up, someone, or ask around, where you can get, some sugar. Preparing a meal, in Africa, can be a task, in its own right, from the perspective, of getting, the raw materials, you need. To survive, in Africa, one needs, what they call, a Masterplan, with a Mastermind, behind it. In general, you have to calculate, several variables, of what, could go wrong. Structural modes, are based, on Masterplans. Not easy to explain, unless, one has lived, in Africa before.

Asia: Traffic systems

In Asia, meeting ones necessities, is very much, based, on a logic, similar, to that of, traffic systems. Its simple to explain, by knowing, that meeting ones necessities, in Asia, is very much, an individual effort, but not. You simply, know, what necessities you need, and know, how to go, about, accessing them. Its all about, access, with a traffic system logic, at the heart, of this access. At the heart,of this all, is really, a personal logic, which heavily, also consists, of taking advantage, of opportunities, to gain access, to a requirement. Personal logics, are kind of similar, to what they call, an SRS (Software Requirements Specifications), in Software Engineering. This might be hard, to see, unless one realizes, obviously, that survival, is very much dependent, on the land, you live in. Its kind of, really, that simple. Asia, is mostly, flatland, and accessing, necessities, can work, with a logic system. Africa, is mostly, curved land. This means, that one, can only erect, important, structures, on a flat space. Such spaces, are rare, in most, African cities. America, is different, from India, as necessities, are not about access really; they are about, supply and demand. This means, that while Indians, access necessities, often [if not daily], Americans, do not do so, oftenly. Its not easy to see, but it is.

Middle East: Islam

In the Middle East, survival, at its heart, is based on, Islam, and the Qur'an. Its kind of, a personal, survival mechanism. Middle Easterners, kind of know, what they are doing, all the time. Theirs, is a world, based on, quality, quantity, and substance. Their clothes, for instance, are of good quality, and don't get worn out, easily. They always have, the right quantity, of food, available, and one, can have, easy access, to housing, anywhere, by being religious. Its kind of like that, but it isn't, as one, cannot always ask, for housing, simply, by being religious. At the heart, of it all, is the Qur'an [you live by it].

MS-DOS 1.0:

Many people, believe, that, survival mechanisms, should get, automated, but not really know, what this means. To the most, common sense people, it means, having computers, run, these, survival mechanisms. To others, out for money or power, it means, automating, things really, which, unknown to most, is like having, a personal courier service, to fulfill, their needs. Its about, systems, and slavery. A culture, of servility, and those, who cannot afford, slaves really, have a hard time, meeting, their necessities. No system, no slaves. It sounds complicated, but its not. Its simply knowing, that having, ones necessities, met today, needs, more money, than most out there, can afford. Most out there, simply, get by.

Having computers, run survival mechanisms, is not too difficult, to envision, as long, as one, understands, survival mechanisms, and the trajectories, associated with them, and also, very much, that different types, of computers, exist. Each, can be used, in different parts, of the world.

North America: Mainframe computers

In North America, running, survival mechanisms, is all about, using, mainframe computers. This very much, involves, opening, a Help desk, in a center, somewhere. A place, where, one can go, and ask, for all the information, they need. America, once a land, of spurious activity [people crossing States, at their will], was heavily dependent, on Help desks. One arrived, in a new State, and could simply go, to a Help desk, and look up, housing, supermarkets, motels, foodbanks, dentists, restaurants, just like that. The issue of welfare, has been dealt with, recently, in a different manner, via, what they call, booking systems. Booking systems, are private, and can easily, be used, to discriminate, against others. Americans, like to go, to restaurants, at the spur, of the moment, and making a booking, is how, they go about it, but is best done, via, a public help desk, to fight, discrimination, of all sorts. The only exception, to visiting, survival mechanisms, are those, which are ethnic, in nature. Same issue, with dentists, as North Americans, need them, but have no idea, for many, how to access them.

Europe: Workstation

In Europe, the Workstation, is the easiest way, for the average person, to have, privileges (yeah), to facilities. Workstations, are really, more or less, communication centers, where from, one can contact, various facilities, to ask, for usage.

Africa; Supercomputers

In Africa, Supercomputers, are needed, than in other places, of the world, as Africa, is a continent, where people, are always, calculating, various variables, just to get things done. Not too easy, to implement though, but it can be. This is because, alot of problems, in Africa, are not, really communal, as many think, but group. In Africa, alot of people, don't sleep, or eat, in the same place, everyday. Thats kinda how, Africa is, or things, don't get done. The Mac G5, would probably, be a good seller, in Africa.

South America: Internet

In South America, proper usage, of large scale industries, is really based, on the internet. Large scale industries, are really about, finding, the lowest cost. Craigs list, would be a great success, in South America, where the Real Estate industry, is a large scale industry, not too different, from wholesale. In general, an internet structure, that connects, large scale industry, to the average, south american joe.

Asia: PC

In Asia, its all about, the PC (Personal Computer). Its kind of, a management tool, where from, people, can manage, their daily subsistence. Many of those, personal management, software apps, out there, have an Asian, origin. Its kinda about, knowing, where to access, ones necessities, and also, at what time. Its really that simple. Information, is accessed, from lists, put out, by important people.

Middle East: Internetworking

Internetworking, is all about, using, what they call, handheld, devices. You go, to a new place, and can easily, contact someone you know, asking, for a referrer, at the place. In the Middle East, too, when you seek, help, you are often, more than not, adviced, what to do. And when adviced, as such, you use, your handheld device, to get around, and about, doing, what you have been told, to do. Stuff, such as, TV guide, and Food guides, best work, in the Middle East, where the search, for quality, quantity, and substance, is never ending. Its just whom, they are.

That kind of summarizes, survival mechanisms, which are not too easy, to explain, without speaking of, trajectories.
